Our strategy focused on creating a contemporary interpretation of classical Mediterranean villa architecture that honors historical precedents while providing unparalleled modern luxury. We deliberately employed traditional architectural elements – arches, columns, and balustraded terraces – in a simplified, refined manner that feels both timeless and fresh. The cascading design was carefully conceived to follow the natural topography of the dramatic cliff site, creating a sense that the structure has grown from the rocky landscape over centuries. By positioning the residence at the precise intersection of sea, sky, and flowering landscape, we created a dwelling that captures the romantic essence of coastal living while providing extraordinary vantage points for contemplating nature's beauty. This approach aimed to evoke emotional responses through the interplay of architectural grace, natural drama, and the ever-changing light conditions unique to this Mediterranean setting.

Process

The development began with extensive geological studies to determine secure anchoring points within the cliff face, ensuring structural stability while preserving the natural rock formations. Classical proportioning systems guided the design of the arched façades and columnated terraces, with each opening precisely calibrated to frame specific views of sea and sky. Specialized masonry techniques were employed to achieve the seamless integration between the constructed elements and existing rock face, creating the illusion that the villa has emerged naturally from the cliff. The landscape design incorporated native Mediterranean species alongside the signature purple jacaranda trees, selected to complement the changing light conditions throughout the day. Interior spaces were organized to capture the magical evening light, with the western exposure maximizing the dramatic sunset effects that wash the white surfaces with lavender hues.
